Focusing on the Traditional Benedictine Office in accordance with the 1963 Benedictine calendar and rubrics, including the Farnborough edition of the Monastic Diurnal.
I am very pleased with my new Diurnal from Farnborough Abbey. However, I am unsure about how to pray Memorials on Ferias. I notice that the proper texts given for a Memorial are exactly the ones needed for a Commemoration, so are all Memorials recited as Commemorations? Or do the proper Memorial texts simply replace the ones for the Feria given in the psalter? Or are texts from the relevant Common used? I am confused! I would very much appreciate some guidance. Thank you.
There is a series on how to say the Office using the Diurnal that you might want to take a look through - links are in the right hand sidebar. But the short answer to your question is, memorial s are indeed the same thing as commemorations, and are said in addition to the collect appropriate to the day at Lauds.
