Ordo notes for the week of Quinquagesima Sunday (Feb 11-17)

Monday and Tuesday this week are part of Septuagesimatide, and you can notes on the rubrics of Septuagesimatide here.

From Ash Wednesday onwards we are technically in Lent, but while the liturgy does intensify, with special canticle antiphons for both Lauds and Vespers each day, the rest of the Office at Lauds to Vespers remains that of  'throughout the year' up until Sunday.

Note that from Ash Wednesday onwards:
  • the ferial canticle is used at Lauds;
  • the collect for Lauds is also used at Matins, Terce, Sext and None;
  • the concluding prayers of the hour (from the Kyrie eleison) are said kneeling.

Key to the abbreviations:

MD= Monastic Diurnal (MD, 2004 onwards editions)
AM =Antiphonale Monasticum 1934 (1995 edition).
LR=Liber Responsorialis (downloadable from CC Watershed) and the Nocturnale Romanum.
LH=Liber Hymnarius, 1983
SupAM=Supplement to the Antiphonale Monasticum published by Clear Creek.
