This Ordo provides a calendar for the liturgical year to aid those saying the Benedictine Office for those familiar with the rubrics of the Benedictine Office. It can be used in conjunction to the Quick start guide to the Monastic Diurnal.

ABBREVIATIONS
Com: Commemoration (used for either a feast rated as a memorial, or where a feast or other day displaces another feast or day (such as during Advent and Lent).
Default collect: The collect used at all hours other than Prime and Compline (which have their own fixed collect), except where displaced by a feast or higher level day.

The season of Epiphanytide (Jan 6-13) in the 1962 calendar replaces the former Octave of the Epiphany, but preserves the texts formerly used as part of the Octave. The Ordinary of Epiphanytide can be found at NM 123/MD 133* (and AM 304) ff. The canticle antiphons are labelled day 2, day 3, etc, and are used in their numerical sequence, ignoring the Sunday (and Saturday of Our Lady and other feasts when relevant).

The Office during time throughout the year during ‘winter’
From January 14 until Septuagesima, the Office uses the default texts set out in the psalter section of the Diurnal or Breviary for ‘time throughout the year’. Note however that the Office of Our Lady on Saturday is still ‘after Christmastide’ until February 2. At Matins there are three readings and responsories on weekdays, which are of the day of the week after the relevant Sunday. At Lauds the hymn is Aeterne rerum Conditor.
