Thanks to the person who alerted me that the Latin-English Matins set put together by the Benedictines of Mary is now available for purchase from their website.
It is wonderful that the nuns have made this publicly available, as it means that at last those wishing to say Matins according to the 1963 rubrics and calendar, but need some help with the Latin, now at long last have access to a set of books to aid them.
The website says:
"As there was no Latin/English version of the traditional Monastic Matins available, we took up this monumental task for ourselves. We are pleased to offer copies of the four volume set that we have published for ourselves. Please note it is the traditional monastic office, with a few feasts proper to our community. For example the Feast of Our Lady Queen of Apostles is a I Class for the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles. The set does not include Tenebrae, as there are other Latin/English publications available for this. Nor does it include any of the other hours of the traditional monastic Divine Office. The set is the Office of Matins (or Vigils) only, and may be used in conjunction with the Monastic Diurnal or Antiphonale for offering the full traditional Monastic Divine Office.
Volume 1 contains the ferial psalms and short readings, along with proper hymns etc for III Class feasts. Latin/English.
Volume 2 contains the readings for Sundays and Feasts from September through Christmas. Latin/English.
Volume 3 contains the readings for Sundays and Feasts from Epiphany through Lent. Latin/English.
Volume 4 contains the readings for Sundays and Feasts from Easter through August. Latin/English."
This is not a beautiful, fully bound book set (hopefully printing it as a nice book will be the next step?), rather something aimed at functionality - it has a vinyl cover and is spiral bound in paperback size.
But the cost is a very modest $US80 - so consider giving a donation to the sisters as well!
